Ollie Madlala

Director

Ollie is a former Journalist who continues to successfully use her media relationships to deliver on various media relations mandates within the public relations consultancy space. Her journey into the media started as a freelance writer.

She soon cemented her position at Engineering News, where she honed her newsroom skills over a period of three years. She has also written for Miningmx and Enterprise Magazine, among other titles.

Ollie crossed the floor into the PR consultancy sphere when she joined Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in 2012 followed by a move to Magna Carta Reputation Management Consultants. In the consultancy world, Ollie’s vast network in the media and her exceptional writing skills set her apart. Ollie continues to widen her network within the South African and international media space in order to deliver unprecedented media relations work for her client base. She holds a Master of Arts in Development Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Cyril Madlala

Senior Consultant

Cyril is a seasoned Communications and Publishing Consultant with more than 25 years’ experience in the communications and media sphere. He has previously worked in the KwaZulu- Natal Premier’s office as Head of Provincial Government Communications.

As a Journalist, Cyril occupied the positions of Editor of the Independent on Saturday, Publisher and Editor of UmAfrika, Business Day columnist, Political and Parliamentary Correspondent for the Sunday Times, and his work has also been published by a range of other outlets. He has appeared as a television and radio political analyst for various stations in South Africa.

Within the consultancy sphere, Cyril has provided strategic communications and media relations counsel to clients in the public and private sectors. He studied journalism at the Durban University of Technology.

Khanyi Nkosi

Senior Consultant

Khanyi has been in the media industry for over 20 years. Having worked for the country’s top national newspapers The Star (as a Journalist) and Sowetan (as Women’s Editor), Khanyi is well versed in media relations and fully understands how newsrooms operate.

Khanyi holds a National Diploma in Journalism, a qualification that has helped her broaden her career in the communications sector.She was part of the team that formed the media division at Cell C when the company was launched in South Africa in 2000.

Years later, she joined a PR agency where she handled media relations for clients which included Eskom, SAMSA, the National Empowerment Fund and the Independent Electoral Commission. To further broaden her knowledge, skills and expertise, Khanyi joined the news team at a 24 hour television news network where she worked as Copy Editor.

Genesis Public Relations also has a pool of resources that are brought on board as and when required. These include writers, photographers, graphic designers, website designers, social media gurus, and translators.
